Surely you have noticed the sunflowers at the Church and Cottage entry walks. What you may not have noticed are the little Lesser Goldfinch feasting on the ripening seeds.
During the breeding season, the males sport a bright yellow chest and face and white wing patches in contrast to their dark crowns and back. At the moment, many of them are molting and look a little bedraggled. But if you see the stalks and leaves moving, look a little more closely for hungry birds. Carolyn Somer
