Holy Week

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on March 29 and culminates at Easter, April 5. We have plenty of opportunities to mark this special time.

PALM SUNDAY, March 29: We celebrate the glorious entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as the Jewish festival of the Passover approaches. We will enter the sanctuary waving palms and shouting, “Hosanna!” This is a multigenerational service, and our children will play a special part.

MAUNDY THURSDAY, April 2: We will gather downstairs at the church for our annual Maundy Thursday potluck dinner and worship service. This time together gives us a chance to consider Jesus’ last night among his friends – and betrayer – before his arrest and crucifixion. The sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated.

GOOD FRIDAY, April 3: The church will be open with the 14 stations of the cross. The “stations” are the episodes along the way from Jesus’ condemnation to death through the time his body was laid in the tomb. Each of these stations will be highlighted by artwork, readings, prayers, meditations or anointing. Stop by between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM to move through the stations at your own pace.

EASTER VIGIL, April 4: For the second year, we will join with our brothers and sisters from Glory to God Old Catholic Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church for an Easter Vigil service. The service represents our anxious and eager awaiting with the apostles for Christ’s resurrection. The service will be at 8:00 PM at Glory to God, 375 Harrison Blvd.

“SUNRISE” SERVICE, April 5: The geese and ducks will welcome us back to Beus Pond Park, 4240 Country Hills Dr., for our annual early Easter service, which at 9:00 AM is a bit after “sunrise”! There will be refreshments preceding the service, which features brief scripture readings, joyful music and a cathedral of natural beauty surrounding us.

EASTER SERVICE, April 5: We will celebrate the mystery of our faith – the death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ – in our regular worship service at 11:00 AM. Joyful music and Holy Communion will be served.

EASTER EGG HUNT, April 5: Don’t forget the annual fun of our Easter egg hunt after worship!
