Bed Race was fun and successful

The Second Annual Family Promise Bed Race was held Saturday morning, Sept. 23, at the Newgate Mall to the west of the Burlington Coat Factory. There were 20 entries, and our church fielded a strong team. Our bed was modified with turning wheels on the back and decorated as a pioneer buckboard, honoring the founding of our church in 1884. We renamed our team the “Bedhead Buckboard Pioneers.” The decorating was done by Linda Smith and Andy Nielsen. Our rider this year was Ryan Herrick

Our pushers were Brandon Herrick, Danny and Scooter Chamberlain and Monica Williams. Help with transporting our bed racer was provided by Andy Nielsen’s brother Morgan Nielsen and his wife, Michele, with their fine covered trailer.

We have raised $600 so far in sponsorships for our bed racer, and they already have been turned in to Family Promise of Ogden. The event, which is Family Promise’s only fund-raiser of the year, brought in nearly $40,000 as of late September.
