Advent and Christmas season brings our church family through our yearly traditional mission opportunity of warming

the hearts and putting big smiles on the faces of some wonderful people who don’t have families with whom to spend their families. Instead, they celebrate the holiday at a hotel with one another and are tended to by caretakers who do everything possible to make their Christmas special and memorable.

All of these people have some form of intellectual disability, and some also have physical disabilities. While their chronological ages range from 25 to 70, their mental/intellectual ages range from 12 to 16 years old. These “kids” love getting together and celebrating the holidays just like anyone else.

This year we will continue our tradition of supplying these “kids” with filled Christmas stockings, which are given to them on Christmas morning. This year there are 28 people.

Some of the suggested stocking stuffers are:

Warm (but not bulky) gloves, scarves, beanies, fruit, hard candies (not chocolate, as some are allergic), small coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, note pads, stickers, playing cards, small and easy-to-use/understand toys, cars, plush dolls and stuffed animals.

If you have questions about this mission project, please contact Andy Nielsen at801-917-9635. We will gather the items on a table in the rear of the sanctuary. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
