Vacation Faith School

Milk-Jug-Igloo

Save your gallon milk jugs! The kids at VFS will be making an igloo!

“Making Home” is the theme of our 2016 Vacation Faith School, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27-30 (Monday-Thursday). Our kids and guests will learn:

  • All of God’s creatures have homes that suit them.
  • The church is our faith home.
  • Our family home is where we learn, grow and love.
  • Some people don’t have homes. Why is that, and what we can do to help?

We’ll have crafts, games, activities, music, story time, snacks and lunch. Finally, we’ll top it all off with a campout on the church grounds the night of Thursday, June 30.

Parents and grandparents: Call the office to register your child(ren). We’re asking for a $10 donation-per-child to help cover the cost of food and supplies. Scholarships are available.

Volunteers: We need folks to help plan, set up, supervise and prepare snacks and lunch. See Pastor Gage or Susan Smith if you can help.

Summer of Socks & Soul

Socks are among the most needed items at homeless shelters, yet among the least-often donated. Because of the shortage, the homeless population is constantly at risk of serious foot disease and, during winter months, in severe danger posed by the cold. Over the next few months, our church is collecting new socks to be given to the city’s homeless shelters and food banks for use this fall and winter. Let’s fill our sanctuary with socks this summer!

Worship@Vets Home

CUCC will lead the Protestant worship service at the George Whalen Home for Veterans at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 19.

Everyone is invited to share this experience with our veterans. Your mere presence and smiling face are a “thanks” for the sacrifices they made for our country.

Please see Pastor Gage if you are interested in helping.

Grubby Sunday

We’ll hold a “Grubby Sunday” after worship on Sunday, April 24.

Come to church dressed in your working clothes and we’ll attack projects both inside and outdoors. There will be something to do for every ability level, and we’ll even have pizza for lunch!

Doing the work ourselves relieves us of the cost of hiring from outside. Plus, many hands make light – and fun – work!

Yard Sale

We will hold our spring yard sale on Saturday, May 7.

Please bring us your treasures that you do not use or need. If you have room at your house, please keep them until Sunday, May 1; otherwise, bring things to the Cottage and we will find room.

There will be a sign-up sheet for help pricing merchandise, setting up, tearing down and helping during the sale.

Anything not sold will be donated to an Ogden mission.

If you have any questions, see Ruth Geisler. Thanks for your help.
