SHARE, Inc.
(From a SHARE brochure)
In 1975, a group of women founded SHARE, Inc., to provide food for families in crisis situations. During the first year, SHARE was a small, kitchen operation with available food stored in a family garage. Volunteers donated food and bagged groceries, and delivered items to needy families.
Due to the efforts of its faithful volunteers over the years, SHARE now has an office at a local church, a paid office administrator, and more than 35 volunteers.
Most of the food comes from food drives, donations from local churches, schools, other organizations and individuals. In addition, meat, eggs, cheese, bread and margarine are purchased. The deliveries have been evaluated nutritionally and are adjusted to the size of the family to provide three balanced meals for four to six days.
SHARE also provides food bags to Weber Human Services for their clients and to Your Community Connection for single adults in need.
The home deliveries cater to a wide variety of people. We deliver to shut-ins, the disabled and especially to family with small children that done’ t have transportation or the financial ability to provide for their family.
SHARE deliveries are available throughout most of Weber County. Last year we served a total of 2,651 individuals throughout the community. We provided 111 bags to Weber Human Services, 344 to Your Community Connection, and 639 regular deliveries.
Donations are always welcome. Please send checks payable to “SHARE, Inc.” to:
