“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36
Fair Trade
We are a Fair Trade church. We serve Fair Trade coffee after the worship service each Sunday, and we offer Fair Trade Teas and Coffees for sale year-round. In October, we host our Annual Fair Trade Sale.
The Hygiene Kit Project
Throughout the school year, we collected items to create hygiene kits for the homeless people in our community.
One Great Hour of Sharing
A special thanks goes out to those who contributed to the United Church of Christ’s One Great Hour of Sharing.
Pastor’s Discretionary Fund
The Pastor’s Discretionary Fund is used to offer a bit of aid to our members and other people who come to our church for help during particularly hard times.
Green Initiatives
A 2009 book discussion group on “The Climate Diet” spurred our development of Green Initiatives within our church.
Mental Illness
Congregational UCC launched its “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Spirits, Healthy Minds” initiative in June 2011. One element of this program is devoted to helping members, friends and families exercise their own minds. Another is to learn how we, as a church, can better serve people with mental disabilities.
Food
We stockpile individual frozen meals to provide to people in need or people grieving a death in the family, or other urgencies.
