Who We Are

Our Covenant

We journey together in the ways of Jesus Christ.
We seek to be a community of peace and hope and joy,

recognizing God’s Spirit in all.

This covenant was unanimously adopted at our October 21, 2007 Congregational Meeting.  As part of our interim process, we are working to revise our covenant and mission statement to more closely match our current congregation's vision and desires for our church.

Our UCC Affiliation

The United Church of Christ, Congregational of Ogden officially joined the United Church of Christ in January 1961, and clearly has its roots in the Congregational tradition. It is a church that like other Protestant churches believes that the Bible is sufficient authority as the word of God, that persons are justified by the grace of God through faith, and that such faith leads to good works out of love of God.

Like the early American Congregational and Christian Churches that formed the Congregational Christian churches in 1931, we believe in freedom of religious expression and local church autonomy. However by joining the United Church of Christ we are committed to unity among Christians in acknowledging the biblical authority of Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit in faith communities, and our common faith in God.

At our Annual Meeting in January 2010, we voted to change our name to Congregational United Church of Christ for several reasons.  More of our members, and hopefully others in the community, are familiar with the Congregational church and it's history.  The Church of Christ, with which the United Church of Christ is sometimes confused, is a much more conservative church.  Others felt the new name reads more smoothly.
